Holiday Banners Competition '16
« on: December 06, 2015, 10:38:18 pm »
Here comes that time of the year, it's time for our annual Holiday Banners competition.
You can submit your banners with a New Year/Winter motif here...

Requirements

● Submit in .png (lossless) format
● Width 980px
● Height 120px
● Matches site!
● Use the Joyful Juliana font.
● Keep at least 100px clear on the left (RSS feed button).
● If the composition allows it put the image to the left and the text to the right.
● Tell us which anime it's from and the character(s) name.
● Provide link to your (tracker) profile so we can give you proper credit.
● We want some diversity, so try not to overuse old stock images that were previously accepted, it lowers your chance of it being accepted.

Like before, you'll have more freedom if you wish to experiment, however try to keep the banners consistent. That goes for the font and the background colour scheme.
New Year motif banners will be kept in rotation until the end of January, 2016 - so feel free to alter your banner slightly and re-submit it in the regular banner submission thread if you want to keep it in permanent rotation.

Best banners will be awarded - 2000 Bonus points for every banner we choose (No limits to number of submissions).
Same as last year, banners we like the most will receive extra points.
Submissions will be accepted starting today and until 23. December.
Happy Holidays, and have fun~

-BakaBT Team-

Tips are pretty much as last yea and the year before, so I'll be an even lazier bastard and just repost my repost of my repost:

- Keep clear requirement is not compulsory, just compensate for the RSS button overlaying the banner or incorporate it in the design.
- Do not overuse existing renders and themes, there are plenty of new shows to choose from.
- Actual banner width is 970px, so bear that in mind if your design relies on a frame of sort.
- As for additional text - Happy New Year, Happy Holidays and similar are accepted, but we're steering clear of Merry Christmas and similar religious holiday greetings as we're trying to be neutral.

However we are tolerating Christmas themed banners, Christmas tree, gifts etc. as it is tied to New Year spirit.

For the general idea you can also check out banners we accepted previous years '15, '14, '13, '12, '11, and '10.

megaslush96: I edited your image link, using a direct link makes it appear in your post.
Also, please read Duki's post above (for example, which anime is this, the requirements part).
But multiple submissions are allowed.

I think it looks really good. The only thing I'd change is that the green and red text for "BakaBT" is a bit hard to read. I think you could keep it all in the same colours you used for "Anime Community".

This one might be a little too Christmasy, but it's my first submission, and it's from Ken Akamatsu's "Itsudatte My Santa!", which I discovered here.

Source image from this page, tastefully censored, just in case:

If Itsudatte My Santa! is a little too obscure, here's something a little more mainstream (and classic): Dragon Ball.

Too old? howabout some Steins;Gate?

And that's what I've come up with so far. I'd love to do some more later!

Damn. It's that time of year already. Time really flies when you're miserable as fuck... Heh.

On a serious note, the holiday banner competition always makes me very nostalgic. I first stumbled across Box Torrents back in 2008 during the competition, while I was going through a lot of (seemingly) big changes in my life at the time. Thinking back to how simple things were back then(but they sure didn't seem so at the time), it makes me miss the people and places that played such a big part in my life. I guess nostalgia does go right along with this time of year, but it's funny how certain seemingly small things from the past can really bring back a flood of memories and emotions.

I'm not so sure where I intended to go with this post, which might seem silly after typing all this crap out, but I guess I'm just trying to say "Thanks" for giving a lot of us a place to meet and bond with other people who share the same interests and not feel so alone in our hobbies. Hope everything goes well with everybody this holiday season and I look forward to lots of awesome banner submissions again this year.

I really love this one. I'd never heard of the manga before, but I think you did it really well.
I prefer the one with the regular "BakaBT" text.

Your other submissions are a bit more generic IMHO. I think the Itsudatte My Santa! one stands out as more unique and interesting. Plus I love the colour tone of it.

You could do what I did (and propably a whole lot of others too): upload your image to imgur (no accounts or anything required) and once uploaded right click the image, copy the url and paste here for all to see!

For holiday banners rules are less strict, so even Manga, VN and Vocaloids are also allowed

I doubt it is good as a holiday banner. Repost it here: http://forums.avxblog.ru/index.php?topic=19217.3150
